Well, that certainly was quick! We went from being called “The Yellow Sign People” to “The Pitchfork People” (thank you, Ann Weeks, Chair of the Wenham Planning Board and Peter Clay, Chair of the Wenham Select Board) to being called racists and bigots as one very prolific, very pro-3A Wenham resident posted on the HW Current Residents Only FB page (10/3/24). That was certainly unkind and MOST certainly untrue. Who are we then? We remain who we were when this coalition started:
BHWG IS YOU. Private citizens who have just moved here or lived here for decades for the same reasons as everyone does. Loving a small New England town close to everything good. Our little schools, access to Boston, the ocean, trips to the mountains up north, and our local open space. Everyone’s politics are not the same. They don’t need to be when it comes to 3A. BHWG is not about shouting or booing. We think understanding what could happen in our towns and then making good decisions to guide our own futures is most important. And yes, still caring and being socially responsible regarding our state’s challenges. We can share and agree on common sense governing that’s best for our families and not be against other regional or national issues in our country. But only if we vote to oppose a law so impactful as “3A” to move ahead with managing our local town governing. Ourselves.
